Blank Screen or No Content

Your screen is on but not displaying any media

A blank screen usually means the device doesn't have content assigned to it yet. Walk through these checks to find the missing link.

Check that a program is scheduled on the channel

  1. Go to the Channels page
  2. Click on the channel you're trying to play
  3. Verify that a program is scheduled and currently active

A program needs to be scheduled with a valid date range that includes today in order to play. If no program is scheduled, or the schedule has expired, the screen won't have anything to display. See Scheduling Content for details on how scheduling works.

Check that the program has media items

  1. Go to the Programs page
  2. Click on the program that's currently scheduled on your channel
  3. Verify that the program contains at least one media item (image or video)

If the program is empty, add media items to it from your Media library.

Everything looks correct?

If the screen has a channel, the channel has a program, and the program has media — but the screen is still blank — try restarting the Roomcaster app on the device. Close the app completely and reopen it. The device will re-fetch its content and should begin playing within a minute or two.

Think of it as a chain: Screen needs a Channel, Channel needs a Program, Program needs Media. If any link in the chain is missing, the screen will be blank.
